To meet the world: a conversation on receiving gifts

Caroline will lead us in an open conversation about the gifts we have received, those we have to offer, and the beauty that unfolds when we recognize and share that which is ours alone to give.

In preparation, we invite you to contemplate two simple questions: What gift do you have to share? What is the greatest gift you have ever received?

Sofia and Daniel will guide a shared conversation on chapter 2 of Georges Perec’s An Attempt at Exhausting a Place in Paris. Problem Library’s Conviviality Cohort brings together young artists interested in creating spaces for gathering and belonging, inspired by Ivan Illich’s vision of convivial societies: “I believe a desirable future depends on our deliberately choosing a life of action over a life of consumption, on our engendering a lifestyle which will enable us to be spontaneous, independent, yet related to each other, rather than maintaining a lifestyle which only allows us to produce and consume.”

The Conviviality Cohort is made up of: creative technologist You Li, painters Alice Barreras and Nico Lown Heitz, educator Sofia Belen, designer Nadine Macapagal, and analyst Iselle Kim.
